How to screenshot part of a web page
Windows has Win+Shift+S and macOS has Cmd+Shift+4, both of which grab a rectangle of the screen. Neither knows anything about the page, so you cannot snap to an element or see the size you are drawing. ScrnCap's region mode (Alt+Shift+R) draws the box inside the page, shows the live dimensions, and drops the result straight into an editor.
Doing it manually in Chrome
- 1On Windows press Win+Shift+S; on macOS press Cmd+Shift+4.
- 2Drag a rectangle over the area you want.
- 3On Windows the shot goes to the clipboard — paste it into an app to keep it.
- 4On macOS the file lands on your desktop.
Where the manual way falls short
- The selection is made of screen pixels, not page content: you cannot capture anything below the fold without scrolling first, and the browser's own toolbar can end up in the shot.
- There is no readout of the size you are drawing, no way to adjust the crop afterwards, and no annotation — the image goes to the clipboard or the desktop and the rest is up to you.
Doing it with ScrnCap
- 1Press Alt+Shift+R, or open ScrnCap and choose Selected region.
- 2Drag a box over the area — the overlay shows the live width and height as you go.
- 3Adjust the crop in the editor if you need to, annotate, then export or copy.
